<i>Listen Wise</i> is written from the perspective of a veteran NPR reporter who has been in love with audio storytelling her whole life and created a company to support teachers and students in improving listening skills. It will provide personal anecdotes about listening, as well as classroom stories and teacher viewpoints. It will include research on the neuroscience of listening and auditory learning. It will also offer clear teaching strategies for building listening skills. <br /><br />There are no recent books on the market that explore the importance of listening in K-12 teaching or how to teach listening skills to students. This is an untapped area at a time when listening is surging in importance, especially with the upcoming Lexile Listening Framework. This book will be a a critical resource to explain how listening is the missing piece of the literacy puzzle and what educators can do to support students in developing their critical listening skills.<br />
